"Syria, The Melody of Hope" is a documentary movie that tells the history of the Syrian Revolution by following the chants and songs of the protesters from March 2011 until 2013. The Documentary shows how the chants documented the different stages of the revolution. How did it start as peaceful demonstrations, then moved to armed conflict by forming the Free Syrian Army, and finally the entry of Islamic armed groups. The documentary was broadcasted on Aljazeera Channel on 2013 and was considered one of the most popular documentaries in the Arab World. The movie also illustrates the influence of culture, music, and drama on the chants of demonstrators.

The movie is directed by Mahmoud Alken, a producer at Aljazeera Network who investigated different massacres in Syria and Egypt. His first investigative documentary, What Happened in Houla, came to the conclusion that the Syrian regime was directly responsible

for the massacre. Few days after the documentary was aired, a UN final report about the massacre also came into the same conclusion. His second documentary, Dariya, the Brotherhood of grapes and blood, documented the massacre of Dariya in Damascus suburbs.

It showed how the military operations in the city, which killed around 800 people, happened directly in the site of the presidential palace, and such operations could not be done without the presidential consent.

The Film will be discussed in the presence of the director Mahmoud Alken and June Dahy, associate professor at the university of Copenhagen.

سوريا، لحن الأمل هو فيلم وثائقي يحكي عن تاريخ الثورة السورية من خلال متابعة الهتافات والأغاني للمتظاهرين في الفترة من آذار 2011 وحتى عام 2013 , يوثق الفيلم الهتافات في مختلف مراحل الثورة وكيف كانت البداية مع المظاهرات السلمية ثم انتقلت الى الصراع المسلح من خلال تشكيل الجيش السوري الحر، و أخيرا دحول الجماعات المسلحة الإسلامية. تم بث الفيلم الوثائقي على قناة الجزيرة في عام 2013 وكان يعتبر واحدا من الأفلام الوثائقية الأكثر شعبية في

العالم العربي. كما يوضح الفيلم تأثير الثقافة والموسيقى والدراما على هتافات المتظاهرين.

الفيلم من إخراج محمود الكن وهو منتج في شبكة الجزيرة والذي قام بتحقيقات مختلفة عن المجازر في سوريا ومصر. أول فيلم تحقيق وثائقي له " ماذا حدث في الحولة " جاء باستنتاج مفاده أن النظام السوري هو المسؤول مباشرة عن المذبحة. وبعد أيام قليلة من بث الوثائقي جاء التقرير النهائي للأمم المتحدة حول المجزرة بنفس النتيجة . فيلمه الوثائقي الثاني "داريا, أخوة العنب والدم " وثق مجزرة داريا في ريف دمشق وبين كيف أن العمليات العسكرية في المدينة والتي أسفرت عن مقتل نحو 800 شخص، حدثت مباشرة في موقع القصر الرئاسي وأنه لا يمكن القيام بمثل هذه العمليات دون موافقة الرئاسة.
